Each Fall we open up registration to all students, new and returning. Fall Open Registration is done on a first-come, first-served basis. The first day is always in early August. A week before before that day, we will email returning students alerting them that their recommended classes and class schedules are available at our web site. New students will also be able to obtain a list of recommended classes before registration begins. Spring registration has a "priority" window of several weeks in which we allow current students to re-signup for the class they had in fall. After that, we have a "Shuffle Week" during which current students may transfer to another class on a space-available basis. Following Shuffle Week, Open Registration begins again, at which point new students may join. Open Registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Summer registration is always on a first-come, first-served basis. For key registration dates, please see our Calendar page.
Students are carefully placed in each class according to age, ability level, attention span, and effort. Instructors may recommend that a student move to a more suitable class after the first week of the semester. This is a reflection of caring teachers who want to find a class that best suits each dancer's needs. If a dancer is unable to attend a different class, please understand our instructors will do their best to keep you child progressing at his/her level within their current class, but it may not be the best placement possible.
All classes are subject to possible cancellation based on low enrollment. This only happens occasionally, and no later than the second week of each session. In the case of summer camps, any cancellations will be made no later than one week prior to the schedule start of the camp. In the event that your class or camp is canceled, we will make every attempt to find a comparable class at a suitable day and time. If your schedule does not allow for a change, you will have the option of either a refund or credit, pro-rated based on the number of classes taken ($20 administration fee will be waived).
If the Seattle Public Schools are closed, then the studio is closed as well. On late start days and non-school days (Saturday), we will assess the safety of opening the studio and post our decision to social media (Facebook and Instagram) as well as update our voicemail.
Payment options are cash, check, or credit card. You can sign up online, over the phone, or in person.
If you need to withdraw from a class after registering and making payment, you may be eligible for a refund or studio credit, depending on the date and circumstances of the withdrawal. For specific information, please see our Credit/Refund Policy page.
Performing Classes: Attendance Requirements
If you are enrolled in a performing class (spring session only), you can miss no more than four classes and remain in the performance. If more than four are missed, you will be removed from the performance choreography and no refund will be given. This policy ensures the quality of our performance pieces and the safety of all dancers.
If you or your student misses a class, you are allowed to do a makeup in a class of similar level and age group with prior approval from office staff or an instructor. You may schedule one makeup class at a time and we request that you limit the number of makeup classes to two per session. To request a makeup class, please call us at (206) 524-8944 or email us. We do not allow classes to be made up during the first week of a semester or Watching Week. Make up classes must be taken before the end of the session (i.e., classes missed in Fall may not be made up in Spring).
Scheduled studio closures (for example, Spring Break) are listed on our Calendar page. In the event that the studio will be closed for just one day of the week (for example, Memorial Day) the dancer will be able to make up the class in any level and age appropriate class during the course of the session (see "Makeup Classes" above for details on scheduling). If the class cannot be made up by the time the session ends, please contact the office and a one class credit will be placed on your account. If the studio is closed due to unforeseen circumstances (inclement weather, power outages), we are unable to offer a refund/credit, however every attempt will be made to find a makeup class for the dancer.
For all classes we require appropriate dance clothing, hair pulled back away from face, and the removal of jewelry. Dancers must also have the appropriate footwear for their genre (no stocking feet). For a full list of specific requirements by genre, please see Dance Attire Requirements.
For dancers in our pre-school program, we ask that you take them to the bathroom and wash hands before class begins to avoid interruption of dance time. If the dancer needs to use the bathroom during class, the teacher will look for a parent/guardian in the lobby to assist the dancer. If no parent/guardian is on site, a staff member will escort the dancer to the restroom and offer assistance with dressing/undressing. For dancers still in diapers, we ask that a caretaker remain in the lobby to assist with diaper changes if needed (we are not licensed to do so).
Our studio lobbies have seating and windows that look into our dance floors through sheer curtains. Watching is OK, but we ask that you do so discreetly with younger children to reduce distractions. Please inform your child (especially younger children) prior to their first class that they will be in the class with their instructor and classmates and that you will be nearby, just outside the door or windows. Parents, friends, and family are invited onto the studio floor to watch the entire lesson during Watching Week. See Watching Week dates or our Calendar Page.
Parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up students on time and students who are minors must be accompanied by an adult when leaving their lesson. Please notify your child's instructor if a different adult will be picking him/her up. If students are picked up late a single time, our office staff will call the parent and let them know about it. If it happens again, we reserve the right to remove the child from the class and apply our Credit/Refund Policy as though it were a dropped class. If a parent is late for pick up after the last class of the day, necessitating the instructor to remain past studio hours with the child, a fee of $2 a minute will be charged to compensate the instructor for their time.
At the Main location in Wedgwood, please use street parking. Cars parked in the alley or spaces behind the building will be towed. At our Greenwood location there is a parking lot directly behind the building.
Removal from Studio Activities
All That Dance also reserves the right to discontinue a child's participation in class if the child's behavior becomes a distraction for the instructor and/or other students. In this instance, we will make every effort to work with the child -- in concert with the parent -- to resolve any behavior issues. All That Dance also reserves the right to discontinue a child's participation in class, the ATD Company, or any other related studio activities if All That Dance determines that the child's parent has treated staff, instructors, other students, or other parents in a rude, threatening, demeaning way or in any other manner it deems unacceptable in light of All That Dance's positive, friendly community environment. In both cases, the parent would be refunded for the remaining number of classes, stage time, or instructor time on a pro-rated basis, less the non-refundable $20 administrative fee.
We try our best to keep you informed, well in advance, of important deadlines and dates. Our primary tools are our web site, Facebook, e-mails to families, and in-studio verbal and written announcements. We encourage all parents to put key dates in their personal calendars as soon as they are announced.
Requirements for eligibility to be excused from PE vary by school and district. If your dancer would like to use hours at All That Dance to fulfill a PE requirement, we ask you to provide us with a letter that meets the guidelines determined by your school at least one business week before it is due. Drop off the letter to the office (not with your child's teacher) with a stamped envelope addressed to your child’s school. All That Dance will confirm your dancer’s hours, sign the letter and mail it. If you do not leave an envelope, the letter will be available for you to pick up at the studio.
Photos and Social Media
All That Dance maintains the right to take photos and/or videos of its dancers or guests when present in our private facilities. The photographs and videos are intended for marketing and promotional us on our website or social media. These photos do not name or disclose personal information of those within the images.
