Year in and year out, we hear from parents and
dancers that our Spring Shows are the highlight of their year. We have been putting these shows on for more than 15 years and they
truly are a community-wide event.
Family, friends and neighbors all head to the
Shorecrest High School Performing Arts Center for a show featuring their
dancer's class. Each show takes about an hour, giving audience members just
enough time to see their dancers and about 10 or 11 other classes of varying
ages, skill levels and dance genres. Dancers wear full costumes in a show staged
by Shorecrest's professional stage and lighting crew. Each class performs in one
show but the studio typically puts on 10-12 shows over the course of a weekend
(contrasted with many studio that, if they put on any performances at all, hold
one show that lasts several hours).
Dancers and audience members rave about the shows
for their professionalism, organization and positive, creative spirit. The shows
consistently are rated as one of the best things about All That Dance. The shows
have become particularly valued because of the hard work that goes into them,
which is a reason that more and more studios these days are discontinuing such
performances.
All That Dance performing means more than just
getting on stage. When it comes to performing, we believe it's all about:
- Esteem-building... by doing your best and reaching
your goals
- Character-building... by delivering on a commitment to
oneself and one's fellow dancers
- Community-building... by providing an event in which
family & friends may celebrate their dancers' skills and hard work
- Reveling... in the joy of creative movement &
artistic expression
and ... just plain old FUN!
